Mount Mahabharat Homestay & Retreat was born in 2015 from a simple vision to offer a peaceful Himalayan refuge where people could rest, reconnect with nature, and experience authentic Nepali rural life.
However, just as our dream began, Nepal was struck by the devastating 2015 earthquake.
Over the years, we survived COVID-19, repeated climate-driven floods, landslides, social movements, and a drastic decline in tourism.
Despite these hardships, our spirit remains unbroken.
We have continued to welcome guests, cultivate organic food on our farm, and preserve the peaceful sanctuary we built with love.
Now, after nearly a decade of service, we are ready to transform our retreat into something even more meaningful.
We dream of creating one of Nepal’s first donation-based yoga and meditation retreats, open to all—regardless of financial background.
With your support, we aim to:
– Create 20+ simple and comfortable beds for retreat participants
– Build a dedicated yoga & meditation hall
– Maintain our organic farm to provide fresh, healthy, locally grown meals
– Host daily yoga, meditation, pranayama, and nature-connected practices
– Offer a peaceful space for spiritual growth, cultural exchange, and healing
The retreat will be accessible to everyone—from spiritual seekers to nature lovers—supported purely by kindness, generosity, and global cooperation.
Our retreat is located 44 km southeast of Kathmandu, standing at an elevation of 2100 meters in the serene Mahabharat Range.
Here you will find:
– Pure Nepali Lifestyle
– Organic food grown on our own farm
– Warm local hospitality
– Peaceful village rhythms
– Indigenous culture and traditional mountain life
– Breathtaking Natural Beauty
– 180° views of snow-capped Himalayas to the north
– Dense Mahabharat forest to the south
– Rivers flowing through the mountain valleys
– A 2-hour hike to a 360° panoramic viewpoint where the territories of both China and India are visible from one ridge
-This is a place where silence speaks, nature heals, and the mind finds clarity.
Years of natural disasters, changing climate, and global crises have heavily affected our homestay. Guest numbers have fallen dramatically, and our income—once enough to sustain the retreat—has declined.
But our purpose remains strong.
We believe the world needs more spaces of peace, healing, connection, and spiritual awakening. Our retreat can be such a sanctuary—but only with your support.
We humbly invite contributions from:
– Peace-loving personalities
– Yoga & meditation practitioners
– Nature and mountain lovers
– Spiritual seekers
– Anyone who believes in the power of community and mindful living
Your kindness can help create a space where thousands can heal, grow, and reconnect with themselves.
Every contribution—big or small—supports the building and maintenance of:
– A donation-based retreat center
– Rooms and bedding for 20 participants
– A meditation & yoga hall
– Sustainable farming practices
– Community jobs and local development
Your generosity directly nourishes a project built on compassion, simplicity, and service.
With your help, Mount Mahabharat Homestay & Retreat will become a globally accessible spiritual haven—where people from all backgrounds can practice yoga, meditation, and mindful living without financial barriers.
Together, we can uplift this mountain community, protect nature, and build a retreat that serves humanity for generations.
Every donation, every share, and every message of encouragement brings us one step closer to creating this sacred space.
Thank you from the depths of our hearts.
