Namaste! I’m Kamal Nepal, a government-certified trekking guide in Nepal and the owner of Mount Mahabharat Homestay Retreat Farm in Bethanchowk, Nepal.

I have spent many years exploring the Himalayas and guiding visitors through some of Nepal’s most beautiful trekking regions. For me, trekking is not simply about reaching a destination. It is about experiencing the mountains, meeting local people, understanding their culture and enjoying the journey safely.

Whether you are visiting Nepal for your first trek or returning for another Himalayan adventure, I can help you plan a journey that suits your experience, interests, available time and fitness level.

Experienced Local Trekking Guide in Nepal

Local knowledge makes a real difference when trekking in Nepal. Weather, altitude, trail conditions and accommodation can change quickly in the mountains, so having an experienced guide beside you can make your journey safer, easier and more enjoyable.

Over the years, I have gained practical experience with Nepal’s mountain trails, local communities, trekking conditions and high-altitude environments. I use that experience to organise treks carefully while keeping each journey personal and flexible.

My goal is simple: to provide a professional trekking service that is safe, well organised, fairly priced and genuinely enjoyable.

Personalised Trekking Experiences

Every trekker is different. Some people want a challenging high-altitude adventure, while others prefer shorter trails, peaceful villages and more time to enjoy the scenery.

Instead of treating every guest the same, I plan each trek around your individual requirements. Your route can be organised according to your fitness level, trekking experience, interests, schedule and preferred pace.

Whether you are interested in a major Himalayan trek or a short trekking experience in Nepal, the aim is to create a journey that feels comfortable, rewarding and realistic for you.

Trekking Preparation and Safety

A successful Himalayan trek begins before you reach the trail.

Before heading into the mountains, I help trekkers understand what to expect and how to prepare properly. This may include advice about trekking equipment, clothing, footwear, physical preparation, trail conditions and altitude awareness.

I can also provide practical guidance on:

  • Trekking equipment and packing
  • Appropriate clothing and footwear
  • Physical preparation before trekking
  • Altitude awareness and acclimatisation
  • Food and hydration during the trek
  • Trail safety and changing weather conditions
  • Daily trekking pace and rest

Good preparation cannot remove every challenge from mountain trekking, but it can help you arrive better informed, properly equipped and more confident about the journey ahead.

Trekking Practice in Bethanchowk

Before beginning a major Himalayan trek, you can also spend time practising for your trek in Bethanchowk.

Located around 50 km from Kathmandu, Bethanchowk provides a beautiful natural setting for hiking, building endurance and becoming familiar with walking on hills and uneven trails.

The area reaches elevations of around 3,000 metres and offers opportunities for hiking, camping, yoga, meditation and spending time in a quieter mountain environment. It can be particularly useful for testing your trekking shoes, backpack, clothing and equipment before leaving for a longer journey.

Bethanchowk is also known for its forests, peaceful surroundings, sunrise and sunset views and wide Himalayan panoramas on clear days.

Mount Mahabharat Homestay Retreat Farm

When you visit Bethanchowk, you are welcome to experience local hospitality at Mount Mahabharat Homestay Retreat Farm.

The homestay brings together trekking, village life, nature and organic farming. After spending time on the trails, guests can slow down, rest and enjoy freshly prepared local food in peaceful surroundings.

It is also a comfortable base for visitors who want to explore Bethanchowk, practise trekking, camp in the surrounding hills or simply spend a few quiet days away from Kathmandu.

Discover Nepal with Local Knowledge

Nepal has much more to offer than its famous mountain peaks. The villages, people, food, traditions, forests and everyday life along the trail are all part of the experience.

As a local trekking guide, I want my guests to experience this side of Nepal as well. I’m happy to share what I know about the mountains and introduce visitors to the communities and places that make trekking here so special.

If you are planning a trek in Nepal, I would be happy to help you prepare and explore the Himalayas with local knowledge, careful planning and professional guidance.

Let’s make your journey in Nepal safe, memorable and truly worth the walk.
